CIMC Vehicles Wins 2017 "Golden Transport Award" of China Road Freight Industry
On January 26, 2018, the 2017 China Freight Industry Annual Conference (CFIAC) was held by China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing (CFLP) in Beijing. CIMC Vehicles was awarded the 2017 "Golden Transport Award" of China road freight industry by virtue of the "centre axle van trailer combination vehicle project". According to the judging panel, this innovation case will have a profound impact on promoting the standardization and modernization of highway freight vehicles, exploring and studying the feasibility of vehicle combinations running on roads in China, and promoting the innovation of logistics and transportation equipment. Song Yanwen, Manager of Manufacturing and Technology Department of CIMC Vehicles, represented the company to participate in the ceremony.
?The centre axle van combination vehicle is still a "new thing" in China. In 2015, CIMC Vehicles started to undertake the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Transport’s standard research project of General Technical Specification on Centre Axle Trailer. Based on the research of standard and product technology of European centre axle trailers, it put forward the technical requirements of centre axle trailers in China and completed the compilation of General Technical Specification on Centre Axle Trailers. At the same time, CIMC Vehicles Semi-trailer Research Institute has developed the first centre axle van trailer and combination vehicle in China, and entrusted CIMC Vehicles (Shandong) to be responsible for the development of China's first centre axle van combination vehicle. On April 25, 2016, the Ministry of Transport held the launch meeting for mandatory performance test for the centre axle combination vehicles. After 35 days of test, the products have passed all the tests and the relevant and CIMC Vehicles revised the industry standards for the Ministry of Transport, providing valuable first-hand data indicators and evaluation methods. Since 2016, CIMC Vehicles (Shandong) has launched three types of centre axle van trailer models, which comply with the new national GB1589 regulations and take the lead in reducing the cost and increasing the efficiency of China's logistics industry.
?The centre axle van combination vehicle has integrated the advantages of "swap trailer transport" and "swap goods transport". Through reasonable scheduling, transport frequency can be reduced and the waiting time of loading and unloading can be reduced by 70% to more than 80%. In addition, it can improve chassis efficiency, effectively reduce emissions, and also reduce logistics costs by 30% to 40%. Song Yanwen believes that the application of the technology can promote the technical progress of centre axle trailers and combination vehicles and the upgrading of van trailer products in the semi-trailer industry; it will also guide the model upgrading and structural adjustment of express logistics and transportation enterprises, so as to improve efficiency and reduce cost for transportation.
?It is learned that the centre axle van combination vehicles have very broad potential application in China; 9 listed logistics enterprises including JD, S.F. Express and YTO Express have bought centre axle van combination vehicles for their own development needs. Recently, the Ministry of Transport has also organized more than 10 backbone road freight enterprises in China to carry out the modular combination vehicles demonstration operating project with centre axle combination vehicle as the forerunner.?
